Guarding Your Loved Ones Against Life’s Biggest Catastrophes

Life is a lot like poker, except for the part where you don’t know the rules, the game can change at any time, and the dealer can decide the game is over at any time. It throws you for a loop–often when you least expect it.

But when it comes to your loved ones, you can’t afford to let those surprises harm your family, whether it’s a natural disaster, a workplace accident, or a major illness.

It might sound morbid to plan for your own death, but in reality, you’re planning for the future of your loved ones when you’re not around to take care of them.

We know the importance of good life insurance in Polk County FL and life insurance in Lakeland FL, and we know how stressful it is to be unprepared for life’s surprises. That’s why we’re proud to offer the best insurance options to educators and their families.

What is Life Insurance?

Life insurance is a contract with your insurance company. The deal is simple: in exchange for monthly premiums, your insurance company will pay a lump-sum payment, or death benefit, to your beneficiaries in the event of your death.

Typically, the type of policy, the amount of the death benefit, and the length of the policy depends on your goals.

It’s hard to project 20 years into the future, but if you know that your family would struggle without you, life insurance is one way to make sure they won’t be left vulnerable.

What Does Life Insurance Cover?

There are three main components of a life insurance policy:

  1. The death benefit
  2. Your premiums
  3. Cash value

Your death benefit is chosen when you take out the policy based on the future financial needs of your survivors. Your premiums are paid to ensure the maintenance of the policy and guarantee that a death benefit will be paid after your passing.

Depending on the type of policy, you may have cash value, which acts as a savings account (part of your premium goes towards the cash value) and as a cushion to offset the rising cost of maintaining your policy.

There are two main types of life insurance:

  1. Term life insurance
  2. Whole life insurance

These refer to the duration of the policy, rather than the extent of coverage.

Term Life Insurance

Term life insurance, as the name implies, is a policy that extends for a set term. This term is agreed upon when you take out the policy, usually in increments of 10 or 20 years.

When you take out a term life insurance policy, you agree to pay the same amount on your premium for the whole term of the policy.

If you die before the policy expires, your beneficiaries will receive the death benefit.

If you don’t die before the policy expires, you can get continuing coverage under the policy, but it’s usually at a much higher premium price.

Whole Life Insurance

Whole life insurance is a type of permanent life insurance designed to provide coverage for the rest of your life. The policy doesn’t expire until you stop paying your premiums, you terminate the policy, or you die.

Because the policy is much longer, the premiums are much more expensive. That said, the cost of the premiums is fixed, and unlike term insurance, whole life insurance includes cash value.

It’s expensive, yes, but it also gives you far greater security. You don’t have to worry about what might happen before the policy expires. You’ll have the reassurance that no matter what happens, your family will be protected.

Lifelong Protection for Educators

We know that financial well-being is a priority for educators and their families.
